An over stimulating weekend

Elliott is not sleeping tonight.  I don't know what the heck is going on but I strongly suspect that it has something to do with all the Gavin time this weekend. Gavin had a pretty big tantrum yesterday but outside of that he was doing great.  It's like his physical presence in the house is simply disrupting. Perhaps this is similar to PTSD in the sense that the boys are afraid that at any minute, Gavin could go off into another rage. Even if he behaves perfectly, they are still worried.  Honestly, like I said, aside from the tantrum on Saturday, he did great. Still, the boys are all over the place. This is why we are trying to limit contact whenever possible.  This past week was filled with last…

Things are crazy here at the moment

Elliott and Emmett have spent time with Gavin for the past three days.  To say that they are overstimulated would be an understatement. This is what happens every time the spend time with Gavin.  Emmett approached Lizze a few minutes ago and out of nowhere, told her,  "Mommy, I hate Gavin. His meltdowns make me feel scared." This is the second time that Emmett's said something like that, in the last few days.  I'm not really sure where he got that from, as we have never said that we hate Gavin, ever. It's really heartbreaking to here those words come out of my 4 year old Emmett John. This is definitely something that we are going to have to work with Dr. Patti on. Until then,we are just trying to…

Goodbye @Sprint Hello @Tmobile

Lizze and I officially ported out our numbers from Sprint to Tmobile. The experience has been night and day compared to what I have experienced with Sprint.  Granted, it's only been a day, the service is far better than that of Sprint. My average data speed is 8500kbps down and 2000kbps up. I can actually download apps and even check my email using the Tmobile network. My sales rep was absolutely amazing and even gave me free cases for our new phones.  Also, I had three defective Galaxy Note II's in a row.  The stylus caused the screens to go crazy. It would also leave ink without actually touching the screen. They took care of the problem and we tested a total of 4 devices before finding one that worked…

Don’t mess with my kids

A word of advice to anyone out there that would mess with my kids, don't do it. While I would put you in the ground myself, I discovered last night that I they can be vindictive little boogers. Emmett was frustrated with Maggie because she was intimidating his kitten, Sam, with her presence. Honestly, Maggie wasn't doing anything but Emmett felt that he was defending his kitten. I let him do just that.  I like to see my kids stand up for themselves, it makes me feel better about their future. I don't know if that even makes sense? Anyway, I suggested that Emmett put Maggie in her kenel for a little while, so his kitten would be scared. He did just that.  He put Maggie in her kenel. Maggie…

Holding up the wall

As you may recall, Emmett is no longer in OT or Speech therapy. We have had to try and come up with things we can do at home, that will help him in these areas. Yesterday, I couldn't get him to settle down. He was completely overstimulated from Gavin's visit and was literally bouncing off of everyone and everything. Out of desperation I was like, Emmett I need you to hold the wall up for me buddy. I had him pushing against the wall as hard as he could.  Wouldn't you know it, it helped. After Lizze got home, she reminded me that his OT had suggested something like that as well.  She said we could have him push against the wall and get some sensory feedback.  We could also…

Why I’m saying GOODBYE to @Sprint

Let me just go on the record as saying that I don't necessarily believe that my recent experience with Sprint represents the entirety of the company. I'm sure their areas that get much better service and customer service representatives that do their job quite well. This is just my personal experience. Yours may be different than mine After being a Sprint customer for many years, with a brief break to explore greener pastures, the Lost and Tired family is saying goodbye to our longtime cell carrier. Here's the problem that we along with millions of other customers are facing, data speeds.  Data on the Sprint network, at least in the areas of Ohio that I frequent, is essentially useless. Personally, I'm someone who uses a good bit of data. We…

Return of the Tantrum

Gavin has been home less than 24 hours and has already had a massive tantrum. I'm watching all three boys while Lizze is at a family function.  This is really important to her because she needs to spend time with some of her family while she can. Anyway, here's what happened. Gavin and Emmett were playing with a slinky on the steps. While they were playing, the slinky was dropped over the side of the steps and tangled up in the cord for the Christmas tree. Let me just say that I hate the slinky. However, putting my personal disdain for the slinky aside, I fixed it for them once again. I simply asked how the slinky got tangled in the tree.. I explained that no one was in trouble, I just…

At least someone slept

Elliott actually seems to have slept pretty well.  Hopefully this will put him in a good mood today.  Lizze has a family function today and so I will be blessed with all 3 boys, by myself and for the entire day. Gavin's actually doing pretty well but he still has to be constantly supervised and that's exhausting. Having said that, today's family function is very important to Lizze so I'll just suck it up and muscle through the day. Again, at least Elliott slept...
