So far so good

I wanted to share a bit about our experience so far with Tmobile. I know it's a bit off topic but whatever. The reason I'm doing this is because as a special needs family, we need to save money whenever possible. Perhaps my experience will benefit someone else. So often we hear,  you get what you pay for. That seems to insinuate that paying more for something brings better quality. I'm here to say, that's not always the case. Having been with Sprint for years, I can honestly say that so far, not only is Tmobile much, much cheaper but the quality of service is significantly better than that of Sprint. When I say better, I'm talking night and day differences. We have had extremely good service thus far and…

He eats… Well sorta

Elliott is still on a pseudo hunger strike, since learning that he has a tree nut allergy. He'll eat things here and there but is largely refusing to eat, at least at home. However, I was lucky enough to be contacted by a company that makes Elliott friendly food. These foods are free from common allergens. I'm not going to go into details because I have an upcoming review on these products. However, I will say that Elliott is enjoying them, so far. I will also say that he's very difficult to please when it comes to food.  Will they get my endorsement? Stay tuned for a full review.  :-)

Tough Tuesday

Today is going to be a rather challenging day.  That's not really anything new.  Today however, will be the first time that Emmett will not have speech or OT. Emmett is a creature of habit and not going to therapy anymore is going to be difficult for him. Exactly how difficult remains to be seen. As long as Lizze is feeling well enough to take Elliott and Gavin to therapy, I'll stay with Emmett.  Anymore he's glued to my side and hopefully I'll be able to distract him. The other downside is that Gavin will be around again because of therapy.  The boys are really struggling with any contact they've had with him, regardless of how well behaved Gavin was.  Luckily we see Dr. Patti in the early evening, so…

Growing Pains

I just wanted to let everyone know that Lost and Tired is experiencing more growing pains.  I've been on the phone with tech support all evening trying to get everything resolved.  It appears that I'm back up and running.  I hoping that things are better now.  Please let me know of you experience any problems.  I really appreciate your patience.  :-)

#autism: One step forward two steps back

For those of you that have been following the Lost and Tired family’s story for awhile now, you’re probably familiar with the concern over Emmett’s regression lately. It hasn’t been anything extreme but enough that we are very aware that it’s happening. You may also recall that Gavin was about the same age when he began his steady decline into regression. Needless to say, Emmett experiencing this as well has us truly terrified. We have been seeing many behaviors resurfacing after he had moved past them. One of the most noticeable is potty time. Emmett will no longer goto the bathroom alone. This is a step backwards for us. Also, he’s back to taking all his clothes off, including his socks, before going to the bathroom. At least he’s still…

Pet Peeve of The Day: Bumper Stickers

I make it a habit not to judge others as I don’t want to be judged myself. Having said that, every once in awhile I come across something that just drives me crazy. Today we were driving home from the grocery store and pulled up next to the nice Nissan Altima. I was driving so I couldn’t grab a picture. However, the back of this car had about 6 bumper stickers on it.  In my personal opinion, that’s the easiest way to devalue your car.   Let me say this.  If your a fan of defacing your car with with bumper stickers, more power to you.  However, for the love of God, put the friggin things on straight. It drives me crazy to see bumper stickers just slapped on the…

What Just Happened?

As a father to three boys in the autism spectrum, I have pretty much gotten used to experiencing unusual behavior.  However, this morning has thrown me for a loop. Elliott spent the entire morning screaming and hitting himself. He was essentially behaving like Gavin. Something is going on and I have no idea what it is. It’s like all of a sudden, Elliott is moody and aggressive. He’s officially off his anti-anxiety medications.  Perhaps it will be a few more days before it clears his system. So far there is no change in behavior between being on the meds and off of them. Lizze also suggested that perhaps the anti-anxiety meds may have changed the way his body handles the ADHD meds. All I can say is that I can’t…
