Bringing home the bacon

I love the way my kids think.  This one is just killing me.  :-) The other day I was trying to work and Emmett wanted me to play with him.  I was trying to explain to him that Daddy has to write in order to pay the bills. I was being goofy and said "Emmett,  Daddy has to bring home the bacon". It's been three days now and Emmett is still asking me where the bacon is.  As soon as I move to go somewhere, he asks if he can come with me so he can help me pick out the bacon. I think I may actually have to go out and just buy some bacon.  It will put an end to to Emmett confusion.  :-) He's just too cute.…

#Autism: Assumption is a dirty word

I had a really good discussion today on Facebook of all places. I had asked the question, "Do you miss your life before #autism?" I was kinda surprised by the mixed reaction that drew from the community. There were some people that almost seemed to take offense to the question. Like how dare I ask if they miss their old life. On the other hand, there were people that responded saying that they absolutely miss their old life at times. The discussion got somewhat heated because someone made the comment that you have to want to see the positive and that they aren't a part of the pity party autism support groups. Personally, I was really caught off guard by how this question was taken, at least by some. However,…

My prince and his castle

I've been totally dragging today.  It's like forgetting to disengage the ebrake on your car and trying to drive away.  I just can't seem to get moving.  Emmett wants all of my attention during the day. I try my very best to find balance between working and spending time with him.  Working from home is both a blessing and curse because there are far too many distractions. Today, I really had to push myself to play with Emmett.  Lizze is still really sick and that's just exhausting for for both of us. Emmett wanted to play with his blocks.  He wanted to build castles and then use the castle pseudo bowling pins.  After the castle was built, we would roll these balls at the castle and try and knock it…

This is how much I love my family

We all show our love and affection for our families in different ways. The most obvious ways being, a hug or a kiss. Sure, I do the above as well but I also show them that I love them by drinking this nasty concoction. It's a green smoothie and when I say it's nasty, I mean it's really, really, really nasty. It basically liquefied veggie and it's an acquired taste. For the record, I have yet to aquire that taste. Having said that, it's really good for me and my family is worth it. It feels like a Monday

This week is going to drive me crazy, I can already tell.  Today is Tuesday but it really feels like a Monday because there was no school yesterday. I'm not going to what day it is for the rest of the week. :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. Progress is Progress

I wanted to let you know about the phone call I received from the Cleveland Clinic yesterday. Someone from the Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program finally returned my call.  Apparently, someone was supposed to have called us already to explain where we stand.  At this point, we have to jump through a few hoops, before we will know where we stand as far as insurance goes. At this point, Lizze needs a PT and OT evaluation,  before we can go anywhere.  These evals have to take place at the Cleveland Clinic and are mandatory, prior to her entering the program.. The very soonest she can get in is sometime in February, maybe.. This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any…

Car seat wars

My boys have many talents, some good and some not so good. One of these not so good talents is the ability to fight with other over absolutely anything. When I say anything, I mean anything. The other day we were driving home from somewhere.  Honestly, I don't remember where we were coming from at the time. What I do remember was all the fighting and screaming coming from the back seat. The boys were actually fighting over who had the coolest car seat. I mean,  really? Emmett was saying something about his having more black and Grey and Elliott's had more blue and grey. Elliott would fire back with something his car seat was in a better spot.  This of course,  led to them fighting over who's car seat…
