This is a guest post, brought to you by the National Autism Resources Creating a Calm Down Room for Children with Autism or Sensory Disorders. As all parents know, dealing with a crying or agitated child is never fun. While each child and parent will have their own ways of resolving these situations, one thing that parents of Autistic kids do is create calm down rooms. When your child is over-excited, bringing them to a familiar, soothing location designed for their specific needs, may help them to relax, and can begin to bring them into a more serene state. However, certain sensory distractions may agitate them even more, so it is important to pay attention to what your child reacts to and doesn't. Here are some types of sensory disorder calming…

Yay…. They slept passed 5 am

I suppose this is cause for celebration.  The boys slept passed 5 am today.  Actually that still kinda sucks because it was barely passed 5:15 am when Emmett came into our bedroom. I guess I'll tale what I can get.  After all, beggars can't be choosers,  or something like that anyway.  This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. Our visit to the local food bank

I want to share this with you because my admitting this and talking about it, perhaps we can quash some of the stigma associated with families in need. Unfortunately, our lives have taken a turn for the more challenging.  The issue with my bank haven't been worked out yet and I'm beginning to think they never will. Anyway, that's really put a hurtin' on our financial situation.  We basically lost $2,400 and that has been devastating for us.  We aren't able to absorb that kind of loss or any loss for that matter.  Unfortunately,  we have hit a point that we were in desperate need of help.  In order to make sure our family survived this period of time we had to visit a local food bank.  Rather, Lizze went…

Food for thought if you ever have to visit a food bank

I just wanted to say this to anyone that ever has to visit a food bank. Be grateful.. These people don't have to do what they are doing and it's not right to treat them or anyone else for that matter like an asshole.... Be thankful they are there to help you. Just some food for thought. Pun intended. OMG…..come on

I told you that today has been really crappy.  However, it's was just made worse because Maggie and Bella just got it to it.  Maggie's fine but Bella's eye is busted open.  Goddammit.  Enough is enough.  This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. The fragile peace

Lately it seems like my boys are at each others throats almost constantly.  This morning has not been an exception..  In fact, so far, it's been a particularly bad day, as far as the two of them fighting goes.  I want to be very careful here because I don't want to jinx myself. However, right now we appear to experiencing a moment of peace between the two boys.  It's a fragile peace at best but peace nonetheless. I'll take what I can get.   This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. My wife is my hero

I just wanted to say how much I love my wife.  No matter how much pain she's in, she always find a way to help take care of us.  She found one such way this morning.  I'll let her tell you all about it, as it's my understanding that she's planning to do so later on today.  I just want everyone to know that my wife is my hero.  :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos.
