Alone at last

"I think we're alone now".   The boys just left for the afternoon.  I'm not entirely sure what to do with myself.  Lizze is sleeping and there is so much that I have to get caught up in.  Having said that, I don't think I feel like doing anything.  I'm so friggin tired and I don't even know where to start.  Perhaps it would be best if I continue my quest for Prestige in Black Ops 2?? We get a break today :-)

My parents are coming to pick up the boys for a few hours this afternoon. Lizze and I are both exhausted and this was welcomed news for us.  I don't yet know what we will do in our time off but Lizze will probably be sleeping and I will either be writing or taking advantage of Double XP Weekend on Black Ops 2. You can look me up on XBOX Live.  I'm Lost and Tired.  :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. When feeding my #autistic kids, presentation is key

It's no secret that getting an #autistic child to eat, especially when they have sensory processing disorder as well,  can be next to impossible at times. I thought I would give you a bit of insight from my experience with my own autistic kids.  My kids are extremely picky eaters.  That's why when food allergies come up, it's an absolute nightmare to deal with.  Over the years,  Lizze and I have found that our boys tend to be very visual eaters.  By visual eaters I mean that they are very sensitive to the way their food looks, tastes and smells.  They are also incredibly sensitive to how their food is presented as well. If there is a perceived imperfection in the food, for example, a chicken nugget that is misshapen,…

Creating a Calm Down Room for Children with #Autism

This is a guest post, brought to you by the National Autism Resources Creating a Calm Down Room for Children with Autism or Sensory Disorders. As all parents know, dealing with a crying or agitated child is never fun. While each child and parent will have their own ways of resolving these situations, one thing that parents of Autistic kids do is create calm down rooms. When your child is over-excited, bringing them to a familiar, soothing location designed for their specific needs, may help them to relax, and can begin to bring them into a more serene state. However, certain sensory distractions may agitate them even more, so it is important to pay attention to what your child reacts to and doesn't. Here are some types of sensory disorder calming…

Yay…. They slept passed 5 am

I suppose this is cause for celebration.  The boys slept passed 5 am today.  Actually that still kinda sucks because it was barely passed 5:15 am when Emmett came into our bedroom. I guess I'll tale what I can get.  After all, beggars can't be choosers,  or something like that anyway.  This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. Our visit to the local food bank

I want to share this with you because my admitting this and talking about it, perhaps we can quash some of the stigma associated with families in need. Unfortunately, our lives have taken a turn for the more challenging.  The issue with my bank haven't been worked out yet and I'm beginning to think they never will. Anyway, that's really put a hurtin' on our financial situation.  We basically lost $2,400 and that has been devastating for us.  We aren't able to absorb that kind of loss or any loss for that matter.  Unfortunately,  we have hit a point that we were in desperate need of help.  In order to make sure our family survived this period of time we had to visit a local food bank.  Rather, Lizze went…

Food for thought if you ever have to visit a food bank

I just wanted to say this to anyone that ever has to visit a food bank. Be grateful.. These people don't have to do what they are doing and it's not right to treat them or anyone else for that matter like an asshole.... Be thankful they are there to help you. Just some food for thought. Pun intended.
