This week keeps getting better and better :-(

This week just keeps getting better and better. By the way, that was complete and total sarcasm.  You may recall that I have been having some issues with PNC bank after they allowed a check for $1,200 to clear one of my accounts that only had a $2 balance.  Instead of bouncing the check back, like they should have,  they allowed it to clear my account even though I opted out of overdraft protection.  The company that cashed the check, tried to fix the mistake by agreeing to rip the check up as soon as it bounced back.  The problem is,  the bank refused to bounce the check back.  Likely because it benefited them to let it clear, especially considering the amount of fees I suffered as a result.  A…

Stay tuned for more tablet giveaways

Guess who just showed up at my door? That's right, it was FedEx.  What where they carrying? You guessed it, tablets.  Who are these tablets for? My readers! I just received $1,000 worth of donated tablets from Idolain, with the expressed purpose of reviewing one and giving the rest away to my amazing readers.  These are brand new models and stack up almost spec to spec with the iPad mini.  I'm so excited to give these away.  Right now, my plans are to give 3 away online and one to a local family.  I'll be working with out OT to identify a family that would benefit most from this.  Also,  Lizze might host one of the 3 online giveaways as well.  Stay tuned and check back frequently because I will…

Playing hide and seek

Emmett managed to drag me away from work again this morning. He just had to play hide and seek. After a little bit of prodding from Emmett, combined with my weak resolve, we were playing games video and go seek.  I have to admit that while I should have been working, it was fun to play with him.  :-) Can you find Emmett in the picture below? Our fickle pickle

Emmett is a fickle pickle when it comes to eating.  His food has to be perfect or he won't even think about eating it.  However, he will rarely ever say no to pudding, especially chocolate pudding.  Do your kids have a favorite food? Is there something that you can fall back on when they refuse to eat anything else? Operation Hope: Case Manager

I wanted to you all a line and let you know how Gavin's evaluation went today.  To sum it up in one word, awesome. The woman that did our evaluation was one of the nicest people I've ever met and one of the few people who seemed to really get it. Ya'll can probably relate to how amazing it feels when you meet someone that actually gets it. Gavin did awesome today as well.  He was really polite and patient throughout the lengthy interview.  I'm really proud of him and I made sure he knew it.  I guess we just need to wait for all the paperwork to go through.  We can go ahead and add this to the wind column. I give up…. Murphy’s Law wins again

Today's been an unusually difficult day, even for a Monday.  Monday's are notoriously bad for me but today set a new standard.   It all began with my back going out again. Then,  the heating pad I was using to help my back, caught fire while I was using it. As if that wasn't bad enough, my goddamn phone stopped working tonight.  My Galaxy Note 2's screen stopped responding.  Later on it shut off and wouldn't turn back on.  Thankfully, Tmobile has ordered me a free replacement but it's on backorder.  Son of a bitch, I just can't win today.  Supposedly it will be here by the end of the week, so at least there's that. I will have to find a old Tmobile phone exchange to switch into utility then. …

My Sunbeam heating pad caught fire while I was using it

This morning, I was using our 2 year old Sunbeam therapeutic heating pad for my back. I had it set on a medium setting and I had it flat up against my lower back. I had my pillow behind me for lumbar support. Within a few minutes of turning the heating pad on, I began to smell what I thought was an electrical fire. The smell wasn't to bad at first and it went away but got worse after about 10 minutes of using the heating pad. We unplugged it just to be safe. I got up to go put the heating pad away so that it didn't get used again. Upon standing up, this is what I found. The heating pad appears to have caught fire or was at…

Elliott made it to school….eventually

After this mornings drama and Elliott's flat out refusal to comply with getting ready for school, Lizze was finally able to work here magic. She spent some time with him this morning and was able to talk him into getting ready.  It was my job to keep Emmett occupied while she did that.  I don't know why Elliott has been like this lately.  There's nothing going on at school that has him upset or afraid.  He's just being difficult, at least that's how it seems.  I'm sure it's not that simple.  I mean, nothing in our lives is simple. I will say that this is getting really old, really fast and I would like to figure out what, if anything is behind this.  Thankfully, after he decided to cooperate, he…
