Where do #autistic adults come from?

I have to admit that my focus on advocacy is fairly limited.  Perhaps that's needs to change.  However, I'm heavily involved with my 3 autistic boys.  That's what I know.  I tend to focus on what I know, first hand.  Right now, I'm a parent to 3 young autistic boys and that's what my life revolves around.  I'm also a special needs parent and so I know first hand what challenges are faced by a special needs parent.  That's way you don't hear me speak to much about much outside of that arena, at least for now.  My kids are what I know and my personal experience is what I share. Having said that, as they grow, I grow with them and my advocacy will evolve as well.  However, and…

If you were in charge of #Autism Awareness Month what would you change?

As #Autism Awareness Month approaches, what would you like to see happen? Do you want to see more general awareness? Do you want to see more research? Perhaps more support for the families touched by Autism? If you could plan the message that #Autism Awareness Month was putting out, what would your message be and why? Off to school :-)

I got Elliott off to school this morning. He did really good and didn't give us a hard time.  Great job Elliott.  :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. Another one bites the dust

Emmett’s been up for awhile already.  Why?  Because now it's apparently his turn to be sick.  Right now it's pretty minor and just a runny nose. Having said that, for a child like Emmett, with Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder, a runny nose is a really big deal. He hates the feeling of his nose leaking and this will put him in a pretty foul mood.  I'm pretty sure this is a sensory and something we will continue to work on. Does something as simple as a runny nose, drive your sensory sensitive child crazy? Is there anything you have found that helps? How’s your Monday looking?

Elliott's been sick for about 5 days now but should be returning to school in the morning.  He's been doing pretty well today but still has a cough, on occasion. We'll see how he's feeling in the morning but so long as nothing changes in the next 8 hours or so, he will be back in the saddle.  Thankfully, Elliott enjoys school but there will still be a period of adjustment for him after so many days off.  I've got some work to catch up on today and Lizze is still battling her migraine so, I'm doubt much is going to get done.  Emmett is going to want me to play with him all day long but he'll have to settle for something in the middle because I really, really…

A pretty positive Sunday

Today has been one of those days that just seems to go on and on.... Having said that, for a Sunday, it's been pretty good.  The boys have been getting along pretty well Lizze got to catch up on some sleep.  I even got to speak on the phone to a really good friend of mine. Emmett actually fell asleep about 15 minutes ago, so Lizze took him to bed. I'm chillin' out in the living room with Elliott while he tends to his garden in Viva Piñata on the XBOX 360.  Overall, I have to say that this has been a pretty good day. I posted my brief review of the Mini Studio by Idolain as well and will get the giveaway posted tonight or tomorrow.  Right now I…

@IdolianTab Mini Studio 8″ #Android Tablet Review

IdolPad Mini Studio android tablet review Lost and Tired is proud to work with Idolian, in conjunction with millerrupp.com to not only review this tablet but give some away to my readers as well. I wanted to make sure I told you to check out Idolian's website because they have tons of great tech for a reasonable price. Now let's get to the details. The Mini Studio is an 8 inch tablet powered by android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) from Google. This particular model is designed to go head to head with Apple's new iPad Mini. While I don't own an iPad to do a side by side comparison, I have used them, including the iPad Mini. The Mini Studio stacks up quite well, in this technology nerd's opinion. Let's talk price and get that out…

Twitter Tuesday

Social media has been a huge help to my site. However, I utilize it in a relatively one dimensional way. Basically, I use to to help network this site but never really spend any time there. Does that make sense? One of the things I wanted to do this year was improve upon that by spending more time on Twitter and building new relationships and connections. I think that when you are a blogger, the focus becomes your blog, at least for me. However, if my goal is to reach more people and spread more autism awareness, I need to branch out a bit and lose my tunnel vision. In all honesty, I don't avoid doing these things on purpose, it's just that most of the time, it's all I…
