Handprints

When we repainted our house a few years ago, I was really careful not muck up the walls.  I was always reminding the kids not to touch the walls. Anyone with kids can probably guess how well that went. Back then, I couldn't recognize a losing battle when I saw it, and trust me, this was a losing battle.  Having said that, I've grown a great deal since then and not just in the waistline.  While it took a little while for me to realize that the marks in the walls gave our house character, I see that now.  Looking back on how I tried to protect the freshly painted walls, I feel silly for putting so much weight on something that mattered not.  Fast forward a few years and…

40 Days of Water

I have recently accepted a challenge.  This challenge will help lead to better health and help me to practice self control. A little while ago, Lizze stumbled across something on one of her Mommy Blogs that pertained to improving ones health.  The challenge was to give up all beverages with the exception of water,  for forty days.  There are obvious health benefits to this.  Things like detoxing the body, proper hydration and weight loss. I'm going to take this challenge up and beginning Monday, February 18th, I will drink only water for a total of 40 days.  Who knows, I may get used to this and make it a more permanent thing.  Anyone else want to join me? We can all share our progress and help motivate each other. This…

Does you kids fighting drive you crazy?

I'm so grateful when the boys get along.  In all honesty, they typically get along pretty well.  They're getting along much better since Gavin moved out. I'm glad that they're getting along better but I wish it was under different circumstances. Do your kids get along or do they fight like cats and dogs? There are times that my kids get along so well, we don't even know they're there.  Other times, like this morning for example, it's like a friggin MMA match, complete with screaming, yelling and Lizze and I wanting to tap out. Having said that, the times that they do get along really well are that much sweeter.  :-) What do you see in your household? Does the fighting drive you nuts? Have you found a way…

Overstimulation and Meltdowns

After a long day of hard play and overstimulation, the boys slept like, well, babies.  :-) They slept long past the hour of 5am, which is when they usually wake up. I'm letting Lizze sleep in and the boys and I are watching cartoons and eating breakfast. Typically, after the boys have had a really busy day, we see a lot of overstimulation.  You can probably think of overstimulation as being really,  really,  really overwhelmed. It's quite common for these days to be filled with meltdowns as well. It's an exhausting experience for them and us. Hopefully, today will be a peaceful one.  This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. Today’s #Autism and #Sensory Victory

I'm so proud of Emmett because he has taken on his life with glasses and hit the ground running.  I was so afraid that he wouldn't be able to tolerate the glasses and it would become a major battle.  I honestly thought we would be fighting against sensory issues... As it turns out, Emmett loves his glasses and even though right now they are only reading glasses, his eyesight is so bad that they are actually helping.  His prescription glasses will be in next week and he's really excited.  He keeps telling us how much better he can see with his glasses.  He's just too stinking cute.  :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. Does your child have a nickname?

I was wondering if you have any nicknames or petnames for your kids? If so, how did you come up with it? In  our case, Gavin’s nickname was squishy fishy. That came about because of Finding Nemo. I don't remember exactly why, but that's where it came from. Elliott has always been called Doodle Bug. I can't recall why that got started.  Hello parenting fail.  I should probably remember things like that. Emmett on the other hand is a different story.  Until yesterday,  he was called Pickle.  That came out of nowhere. Emmett walked up to Lizze one day and said that from now on, we should call him Pickle.  We were like, okay Emmett. Since he's been wearing his glasses, he looks like a Professor.  So now we've been…

We actually went and visited family today :-)

As the title states, we actually got out and visited with family today.  Well, Lizze and the boys did.  I had to stay back and work.  However, while Emmett is beyond overstimulated now, he and the rest of the Lost and Tired clan had a really good time. This almost never happens.  :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. I know how to spell but auto-correct hates me.  ;-) For more ways to help the Lost and Tired family, please visit Help the Lost and Tired Family.

I need feedback so I can help

I'm working  really hard to partner with companies that want to provide products for giveaways.  My recent partnership with Idolian means that I will be able to giveaway android tablets on a regular basis.  To me, this is really cool.  My goal has always been to help people.  My hope is that by providing the opportunity to obtain a tablet at no cost, I'm doing just that. I've just started another partnership that will allow me to giveaway accessories for popular devices that are used by people everyday.  My question  is, what kinds of products would benefit your family? Obviously I can't promise I can do that but it will give me a sense of direction.  Off the top of my head, I can envision future giveaways that could provide…
