What my kids want to you to know about #Autism

I was thinking that it might be helpful to share this video I put together. It's about what my kids would want you to know about #Autism.  Remember, this is about my kids but I think that others can relate as well. I would never presume to speak for you or your kids.  My only goal is to help make people aware of how #Autism can effect at least my family.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFyN4zsR1nY This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. His desire to see is stronger than his sensory issues

Emmett never fails to amaze me.  As sensory sensitive as he is, his desire to actually see his world is stronger than the sensory issues screaming st him to take the glasses off. I'm so proud of him.  :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. OMG make them stop fighting

Elliott and Emmett have been fighting since he came home from school.  I mentioned that this has been a really crappy day and this stuff certainly doesn't help.  I'm under a great deal of pressure right now and I honestly feel like I wasn't built for this. We are just beginning a 3 day weekend and I have a feeling that it's going to be a really long one.  :-( This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. Seeing the world for the very first time

Emmett's glasses came in today.  After our Wraparound meeting, which I'll talk about later, we took Emmett to go pick them up.  You should  have seen the expression  in his face when he saw his world for the very first time. It was nothing short of amazing.  I haven't felt that awesome in so long and I can't even imagine how Emmett feels.  He asked if he could wear his glasses forever.  :-) It's literally like he's seeing everything for the first time and I'm so happy for him.  :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Please forgive any typos. Operation Hope: Wraparound

We have yet another Wraparound meeting this morning.  I'm going to be really honest here and tell you that I've pretty much given up on Gavin going to residential placement.  The truth is, he's doing really well right now and no one is going to place him.  I'm actually okay with that because we just want what's best for him and if this is working than why rock the boat.  The huge downside however, is the fact that he wasn't going simply for behavioral reasons.  The hospital we were looking at would also be focusing on his physical health as well.  Gavin's health is so complex and fragile that no one has been able to really pin down what's going in with him.  Our hope was that this would happen…

Are your kids with #Autism very particular about things? Does it interfere with life?

Is your Autistic child very particular about things?  Does it interfere with everyday life for them? What kinds of things are they particular about? I thought it might be interesting to share our personal experience.  I would love to hear from parents as well as Autistic adults or teens.  The reason behind me asking is simple.  I want to better understand my Autistic children, more specifically, my son Emmett. Emmett really struggles with this gs having to be perfect.  As an example, if he opens a sucker and the sucker has even the tiniest imperfection, he'll meltdown.  It's like he instantly panics and becomes overwhelmed by the idea that his sucker is broken.  He won't touch it and is many times inconsolable. It's heartbreaking as his father, to watch this. …

What do you want to the world to know about #Autism?

This is pretty straight forward.  If you could have the world understand one thing about Autism, what would that one thing be and why? For me, I would want to world to understand that Autism is different for every person  and every family. I think this is one of the most important things to understand about Autism because this is where many assumptions stem from.  Erroneous assumptions.
