That’s going in the win column

Man oh man, do I feel like complete crap. Going on day #3 of being sick and I'm ready to start feeling better. Lizze, the amazing wife she is, let me sleep and relax all day Saturday. I slept for a few hours but my throat hurt too bad to sleep and I was drooling like a little kid that's teething.  This is made more challenging by the fact that Elliott and Emmett are currently engaged in what could only be considered as world war 3. They're literally fighting over individual Lego pieces.  On the positive side, they are eventually making their way downstairs to ask for help instead of taking things into their own hands.  That's going in the win column..... Taking back #Autism Awareness Month

Earlier I wrote a piece called, Why I've lost faith in Autism Awareness Month  and What I'm doing about it. While I wasn't sure how my readers would take this, the positive response has been amazing.  Apparently, I'm not the only one that is unhappy with Autism Awareness Month, in its current form and the organizations that use this month to raise money and overlook those they are supposed to be helping.  Personally, I would like to see Autism Awareness Month mean something again.  I would like to see, families get the attention, instead of the multimillion dollar companies, whoops......I mean nonprofits. I would love to see Autism families and adult Autistic's featured in the newspaper, if they wanted that of course. What better way for people to better understand…

Please stop the fighting

I'm trying to rest but the boys just keep fighting. I can't just lay down and leave Lizze to deal with that in her own. I'm not sure why they aren't getting along today but I wish they would pick a different day to wage war on each other.  I'm miserable because I'm sick and Lizze is miserable because she's in pain.  There's no break in sight and I'm just really hoping that they can find something constructive to do together. At this point everything we suggest or try is vetoed by the boys.  I suppose they are at least together on that.  :-( This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. From Man Cold to being full on sick

It's official, I've moved from Man Cold to being full on sick, most likely a sinus infection. I feel like crap but Lizze is taking really good care of me.  I would be doing the same for her but in this case, she's working through tremendous amounts of pain to make sure that I take it easy. I'm hoping to feel better as the day goes on but I see a trip to Aultman North in my future. I'll probably need to be on antibiotics to clear up the infection. If I'm lucky, it won't come down to this.  Anyway, if I'm not around as much, this is why.  This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. Why I’ve lost faith in #Autism Awareness Month and what I’m doing about it

As Autism Awareness Month creeps closer and closer, I'm going over my goals for the month of April,  as well as, working on few things I'm trying to make happen. Personally, I think Autism Awareness Month has become way too commercialized and subsequently has lost a lot of its meaning. As the years go by, I've begun to lose faith in Autism Awareness Month altogether. I've shared my opinion of the whole light it up blue campaign. To me, lighting it up blue brings awareness to Autism Speaks and does not necessarily shine the light on Autism, at least in any meaningful way. I'm not discouraging anyone from screwing in a blue light bulb.  I'm simply asking you this. If April is supposed to be about the people with Autism and…

When to worry and when to wait

Lizze and I have been noticing that Elliott has been spelling his own name wrong. I'm not quite sure what to make of this.  We've had our concerns about dyslexia in the past because he was writing his letters backwards. He doesn't realize that he's doing this and gets upset if we ask him about it. Maybe he's just working too fast?  I'm not really sure. This is one of those things that we'll keep an eye on and stay in touch with his teacher before we really worry too much about it.  Any of your kids all of a sudden begin spelling their own name wrong? Women really are the stronger sex

As the day goes on, I'm feeling worse and worse.  My throat hurts and I can't stop sneezing to save my life. I'm not sure what it is is that I'm coming down with but all signs point to the Man Cold. What's a Man Cold? A Man Cold is what my wife calls it when I get sick with something that most Mom's would simply work through. Man Cold is a pretty common term used to describe when a man gets sick and goes down with something a woman would be expected to work through.  Make sense? I can't speak for all guys but I will say that I rarely ever get sick. Typically though, when I do, I get really sick.  On the flip side, I will say…
