Turning a bad situation into a positive one

The good news is that we should be able to get our gas turned back on Monday or Tuesday.   The bad news is that thanks to Ohio weather, it's going below freezing tonight.  I think this is a bit unusual for May, even in Ohio. We are getting prepared for this though.  Our parents have helped us to get things straightened and my parents are dropping off some space heaters. I think we are all going to hunker down in our room tonight. We don't want to put a space heater in the boys room so we're gonna have a camp out, with tons of blankets and the heaters in our room.  Our goal is to make this as much fun as possible. We are going to try our very…

Happy Mother’s Day 2013

I wanted to take a second and wish my amazing wife and all the Mothers in my life, both online and in person, a very happy mothers day.  Lizze doesn't usually like to celebrate Mother's Day as it's the day after the anniversary of her grandmother's passing.  We keep it simple.  Not only is simple inside our budget, it's also what Lizze wants.  It's her day so we are happy to oblige. Today, all she wants to do is sleep, so that's what she's doing right now and appears to be quite happy, cozy and warm.  In truth, I think that Mother's should be celebrated more than once a year.  I mean, honestly, where would we be without our Mom's? I hope you all have a day that is peaceful…

It’s friggin cold in here

I woke up this morning to a house that is freezing.  We haven't been able to get the gas turned back on yet and of course, it's 38°f outside right now.. The soonest we can get the gas turned back on is Monday or Tuesday. The boys and I are buried under a pile of blankets on the couch and Lizze is snoozing away under a pile of blankets in bed. It's kind of fun to be snuggled under a pile a blankets, with my kids and watching some Ultimate Spiderman on Netflix. A bittersweet evening but it went well

Our family had a bunch of college graduations this weekend and one of them was Lizze's brother. His graduation party was this evening and we were all in attendance.  The party was held at Lizze's parents house. We had a really good time and even had this sorta bizarre discussion about the possible legalization of weed in Ohio. That was a really interesting discussion and I have no idea where that even came from.  Anyway, we got to see family we haven't seen in awhile and that was nice.  The boys got to play with Gavin a little while longer before we left to cone home, leaving Gavin behind.  It was kind of a bittersweet evening but it went pretty well and I'm glad we went.  This site is managed…

Emmett’s amazing artwork: The house

Emmett came downstairs this morning and was super excited to share his latest masterpiece. This time he was using a dry erase board to create his art. He drew this house all by himself. He was so proud of this picture and wanted to make sure that everyone knew that the jaggedy stuff on the side is grass. :-) This site is managed via WordPress for Android, courtesy of the @SamsungMobileUS Galaxy Note 2 by @Tmobile. What the heck happened here?

We were driving back from Lizze's parents house tonight and we noticed this hole in the side of a this building close to our house.  It looks like someone drove their car right through the outside wall. Lizze and I don't remember seeing this before so it must have happened recently. I just thought it was interesting and thought I would share. What do you think happened? To this guy, menopause is confusing

As you may know, for whatever reason, Lizze is in menopause.  Technically, at her young age of 32,its called premature ovarian failure but they are both the same thing, according to her doctor.  One of my biggest concerns was that because of her history of blood clots, she would be forced to endure this change of life, without any help. Turns out I was wrong.  Although, I still don't understand why but there isn't much about this that I fully understand anyways for I guess it's par for the course. Her new endocrinologist that specializes in menopause, is putting her on estrogen. This is where I'm confused because I didn't think she could safely have hormone replacement therapy. Apparently, I was wrong.  Lizze, on Monday, will begin receiving estrogen via…

Speech regression is frustrating for everyone

After spending the last 2 days with Gavin, it's very clear that his speech is continuing to regress. I don't know how many times he's gone to talk to me and I swear that I can't for the life of me figure out what he's trying to say.  When you don't live with someone everyday, it's easier to notice things like this.  Even when Gavin was living at home, we noticed this but having him gone for so long and not listening to him speak everyday, makes the changes all that more noticeable. Right now it doesn't help that he's either dealing with allergies or another sinus infection because he's really nasally.  Gavin doesn't blow his nose very well and so, it's kinda hard to determine if what's inside is…
