I realized this my sound like a silly but it’s a serious question.  However does your child with #Autism,  handle temperature change?

For example,  when it’s really hot outside,  do they struggle with sensory issues relating to the heat?  Does there same thing happen with the cold weather as well?

The reason I’m asking is that I have noticed that my kids seem ton struggle with temperature change. They get really cranky and tend to act out more.  I have always assumed it was sensory related or that they were just less tolerant of the changes in temperature.

Thoughts?

my son J doesn't do well with the heat. The hotter it is, the crankier he can get. At best he slows down. He either finds the coolest room in the house or runs my water bill up by taking several showers or baths a day. I put up with that because there is no room outside for a pool except a cheapo kiddie pool, and at 19 I dont think he would have much fun with something like that. He's my polar bear. He loves the cooler temperatures and gets a bit more active during colder times of the year. He's happier, bouncier, the whole bit.
