I had a conversation with someone today (did a video about it here) and I remembered a bit more about why I started doing everything I do. It was a reminder to me that while evolution and growth can be positive things, it’s important to stay true to your roots. I’ve been thinking alot about this today and I’m feeling inspired to want to make some changes to how I write.

My concern for privacy hasn’t and won’t change, so there are parts of our lives that are simply off limits. That doesn’t mean I can’t share the cool things my kids are doing and obstacles they’ve overcome along the way. I’ve gotten away from this since I became a single Dad a few years back and honestly, I’m not sure why. I want to celebrate our victories, learn from our setbacks, and inspire people to keep going, even when it’s difficult.

With that in mind, I want to take a minute and share something really cool that Gavin did today.

Gavin’s all about gaining independence and freedom. He’s all learning new skills and trying new things. If you remember what life was like years ago, this is almost a complete 180 from where he was for so long. This kid has come so far, and while he may always need help, I’m so proud of everything he’s accomplished.

He’s been asking me to teach him to cut the grass and while I don’t like sharing that job because I really enjoy it, I decided to let that go for tonight and share the joy of mowing the lawn. 😉

This was the result.

As much as I enjoy mowing the lawn, I also really enjoyed watching Gavin spread his wings a bit and learn something new. He did a great job and he’s really proud of himself.

I wanted to shine the light on him for a minute tonight because he’s accomplished something else that was once thought to be impossible.

I’m so proud of him. ☺
