#Autism question of the day: 04/29/2012

This is something that has recently hit the Lost and Tired family and so I’m curious as to just how common this is.

How many of you have had to battle insurance for the services your kids need? If so, what was the reason for denial?

Yes! My son didn't receive therapy for 3 months for insurance reasons. OT or speech. We have both private insurance and state funded insurance. The insurance company told us because we home school the schools needed to provide him services, so we battled back and forth for a while. His doctors, therapists, and insurance company. When I complained about this and let others know how I felt they said it was normal. Crying shame the two conditions Children's Special Health Services won't cover is down syndrome and autism. One of the most needed….:(
