Poor Mr. Emmett John is once again facing another medical issue. He has finished up his last day of Prednisone the other day for his then current flare and has already started another flare.
I don’t think that we have ever seen this happen before.
If you look below, you will see just one of the large mouth sores. Since she these are not herpes related, there is very little we can do. In fact, the only treatment is Prednisone and Unfortunately, there is a major draw back to using that. Basically, it suppresses his immune system and leaves him susceptible to things like pneumonia. He just recovered from pneumonia a couple of weeks ago.
We have a few calls in right now because we don’t know what to do.
We have, or rather I have, and emergency type appointment with Gavin’s psychiatrist in about 2 hours. We may have to get Emmett into the immunologist at Akron Children’s Hospital today as well.
How the friggin heck do I prioritize these things. Emmett’s in a great deal of pain but Gavin’s basically going crazy. We seem to find ourselves in these goddamn situations way to often for my liking.
To top things off, we lose the van in the morning for at least tomorrow and possibly more. The friggin thing is still breaking down and literally acts like it’s possessed. Our not even 3 month old van has become unreliable and unsafe. It’s like we still have our old van, you know, the one that was a complete disaster and recently stolen and totaled.
The only difference now, is that not only are we still struggling to pay off the major repairs we had done to the old van about 2 weeks before it was stolen, but we now have a car payment on top of that as well.
Now this goddamn van has to go into the friggin shop already. I just can’t seem to focus on anything else that needs to be done. There are simply to many bigger things to worry about.
Everything else has to go back on hold..

This is more of a question-comment, I don't know if you've already discussed this, but my friend's 3 year old had horrible fever syndrome, but they did a surgery and took out her tonsils and adenoids. After that her fever syndrome symptoms have all gone away; no more flare ups. Is this an option for Emmett?
My recent post Hugs & Kisses, XOXO
Deborah,
Emmett had that surgery last year as well. I has reduced the intensity of the fever but ever since the surgery he now gets the horrible, horrible mouth sores but a lower grade fever. As time goes on, the cycles are becoming more and more regular again. His fevers used to hit almost 105F but now they rarely top 101F.
Thank you for the suggestion though. I appreciate it. 🙂
Hang in there. Something will come to you on how best to handle this. And sometimes best is not exactly what we want it to be, but best under the situation. Maybe even this writing has helped you figure it out! I am praying for you and your family''s situation! Sometimes life is more unfair for some than others! I wish I could offer more help! You can do this!
Would your vehicle be protected by a lemon law? Do your boys have medicaid? If so they should qualify for some sort of medical transport. If the appointments would be all a the same place could you have a family member watch your 1 child that don't have an appointment, then your wife takes one child to his appointment and you take the other? Both of these kids needs are important. You are only 1 person, you can't do it all by yourself and shouldn't have to when there are 2 parents in the home. Hope your kids get better soon and your car situation gets better.
Sounds like you might need to reschedule Emmets and give him some Tylenol for now. Maybe put a call in instead of a visit for him? Whatever you choose, know you are doing the best you can do. Is the van still under dealership warranty? Sorry about all your troubles! It has to get better and it will!
I'm sorry! I wish there was more I could say…. 🙁
