Last night, I was featured in an ABC News segment about the importance of wearing masks during the COVID-19 crisis. There is debate about the validity of people claiming medical exemptions in regards to wearing masks.
For my part, I spoke to the challenges facing kiddos with neuro developmental disorders like autism and wearing masks during COVID-19. We discussed how my kids were doing with masks and how I helped them adjust to wearing them. I’m towards towards the end of the segment.
I don’t mince words when it comes to this because there’s no excuse not to wear a mask. If someone has a condition that makes wearing a mask unsafe, and those conditions are few, they probably should be sheltering at home and avoid public spaces during a pandemic.
Most people complaining, don’t have a legitimate reason. If a kid with autism and/or sensory processing disorder can wear a mask, anyone can. Again, I’m referring to adults who simply refuse to wear a mask. Kids and masks may to be a challenge for a million reasons but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be trying.
On the funny side and for the record, I totally misunderstood what I was going to be doing. I thought I was just chatting with Devin, which I’ve done from time to time. It wasn’t until we got started that I realized it was being recorded for a segment. I had literally just rolled out of bed after a rough night of almost no sleep. I was still in my bed clothes.. lol
I’m telling you folks, sleep is an important part of selfcare. Please try to prioritize it and if you’re anything like me, it’s not always easy to come by so take it when and where you can.

Thanks for all you do.
