I hope you all had a fabulous holiday weekend. I’m exhausted and going to bed but I wanted to share with you all how our weekend went.
If you follow me on Twitter, you probably already have already see this. Rather than go through the crazy story all over again, I though I would just embed the Twitter thread that explains everything. I’m also embed 2 YouTube videos as well.
We’ve not had a good weekend and this week is going to be full of challenges that I neither need or planned on. Here you go.
Here’s everything in a single thread. It was like a literal warzone in front of my house last night. The #fireworks were unbelievable. The YouTube clip below is the view from my couch. I happen to be recording when one exploded on my porch. 1#autismhttps://t.co/B0f2jCF2IJ

This was shot from my living room couch. It shows 30 second of the almost 2 hours of absolute insanity that took place last night.

It wasn’t safe to be outside. I setup a camera on my porch to record anything that happened, so in the event something bad happens, it’s documented. Lucky I did.

It was dangerous, reckless and caused all kinds of damage. My car needs serious body work to repair the damage incurred from countless direct hits from out of control fireworks. There’s issues on almost every surface. Some may be buffed out but others are through the clearcoat.
Putting all the physical damage aside, because while it sucks and it will be expensive, the emotional trauma the kids experienced is what truly pisses me off. Insurance doesn’t fix that.
The explosions were like bombs going off, right outside my house. They shook our 15 gallon aquarium, full of water. It knocked things off our walls and objects were knocked off the shelf in my room. There was no possible way to shield or distract the kids.
Emmett just cried. Elliott focused on Ruby because she was terrified. Gavin was screaming, partially out of fear and partially out of anger.
The police did show up after some one called but left without doing anything. At one point, I called 911 because my attic windows had just exploded and while I was talking to the dispatcher, my front yard was briefly set on fire.
No one responded, at least I didn’t see any police show up and I was paying attention.
I called them in the morning and a really nice officer came out, social distanced and took a report. She documented all the damage to the car and our house.
The materials needed to repair the house have been ordered but won’t be here until Tuesday. I’ve cleaned up all the broken glass and washed all the debris off our porch roof. We also took the car through the car wash, because it desperately needed it.
Everyone’s on edge and I can’t blame them. I’ve never experienced anything like this before in my life. It was like a warzone.
At the end of the day, the property damage pisses me off but it’s fixable. I’m very grateful that none of us were hurt. I’m very, very grateful that the projectiles that shot through the the siding and into the insulation, just outside of Gavin’s window, missed Gavin’s window. I don’t even want to think of possibilities if they hadn’t missed.
This is fucked up on so many levels and I desperately need to move.
I am totally blown away that this was allowed to happen with no law enforcement intervention.
What in the world?! Those were out of control!
I sympathize with you on so many levels. Went through the same thing. We also are planning to move from our home of 30 years because our neighborhood has
changed with older neighbors nearby, passing away and their houses snapped up by out of state house flippers and landlords, who in turn have rented them out to some very rough people. What was once a quiet, nice neighborhood to bring up kids is now full of loud music to early hours of the morning, war zone fireworks since
May, suspected drug houses, loud parties, people hanging in front of your house, sitting on your steps..Don’t know what happened to the time when people respected other people in the neighborhood and their property. I’m just hoping the fireworks will soon come to and end. They’re using very heavy duty fireworks that make my neighborhood sound like we’re at war. I hope this ends for you and the boys and your neighborhood quiets down and goes back to normal.
