Lizze had both Elliott and Emmett to the pediatrician’s office this morning, with the help of her mother. As it turns out, they are both actually doing better.
It’s one of those get worse before it gets better kinda things. At least we know that we are headed in the right direction. That certainly makes me feel better.
I’m not sure if Elliott will be in school tomorrow but Emmett will be at the geneticist. It’s a really important appointment that could help us by providing more information about what he’s going through so we can perhaps, treat it more effectively.
The pediatrician has expressed concern about Emmett’s immune system. Now, he was tested for what Gavin has and everything shows normal. That doesn’t mean that we haven’t missed something. We just need more information and fewer questions.

I've another few of my 'please educate' me questions.
The kids miss so much school, especially with Emmett's fever flares, how do you ensure that they don't fall behind? If you don't do some sort of homeschooling, then how do you compensate for what they've missed? Their teachers sound great, but does the school system have a problem; are you afraid that they will?

That\’s a really good question. Emmett was pulled out the public school system after he transitioned out of early intervention. We are trying to work something out for him.
As far as the other boys go, the school is great. They send makeup work home for us to do over time. The concerns about getting behind arent really there for us because Elliott for example is well ahead of the curve.
Because we have so much going on all the time, I always feel like we should be doing more to help them. However, the truth is, we have to sorta triage everything and as far as grade go, the boys are still doing ok.
That is a really good question and I hope I answers it well. The NyQuil is kicking in so I\’m not sure if this makes sense. 🙂
Ok, thanks. That makes sense, even with the NyQuil. 😀 I'm glad they're not falling behind. Their education seems so important in preparing them for coping with "the real world" for lack of a better term. Your encounter with the homeless man (whose name I can't remember off the top of my head) makes me pray that your kids will fare better. You and Lizze care and do so much for them. I hope to see more milestones for you guys and the kids as time goes on. 🙂 Feel better and get some rest! You deserve it and need it!
