Lost and Tired’s Question of the Day: 03/08/2012

Can you share one good quality that your child with #Autism possesses?

I like this question because I would love to hear about some of the amazing qualities that our kids on the Autism Spectrum possess. 🙂

My child has an amazing memory. Even at 2 years old, it astounds me what he can recall about a particular thing/place after only seeing/doing something once.

My son Jay is musically gifted! He is 9 years old. He's been going to music therapy for over a year now and a few months ago went over to the piano and started playing various nursery rhymes such as Mary had a little lamb. No one had ever shown him. So we started formal piano lessons 5 weeks ago and he's already reading music and playing simultaneously with both hands. We are so excited that he's found something that he lives and is great at! 🙂

Our Eric has the amazing ability to understand and master a video or computer program. I brought out my old Super Gamboy one day with a Mario game and in a short time he was clearing boards way ahead of my own ability — and I am pretty darn good I must admit.
He can find his way around a computer and loves the Wii games. His mom has to hide her cell phone from him — he can download games and if he gets to something he doesn't like (like her music) he delets it. Hes amazing. Rob, you will remember the picture I posted on FB of Eric with his new weighted blanket — you'll also notice he's on the computer, completely engrossed. While we do limit his time on these electronics, we are so happy to see doing something he so thoroughly enjoys.
