As our weekend comes to a close, we are faced with an unexpected challenge. For whatever reason, Elliott and Emmett aren’t able to fall asleep. At this point, it’s after 1 AM, and they’ve already had 5mg of melatonin.
I’m unsure why of they are struggling tonight. I know Emmett has been complaining about his legs hurting. We suspect they’re growing pains, but we are going to call his doctor this week. We’re supposed to let her know if we notice anything because she’s concerned that he’s put on a lot of weight in a short amount of time. It could be a growth spurt but all his life, he’s been inside the 13th percentile on the growth charts. Within a six month window, he climbed to over the 50th percentile.
He’s not overweight. The concern is just the rapid, unexplainable weight gain. We’re just going to let her know about his leg pain.
As for Elliott, his routine is disrupted. He forgot his phone at school on Friday, and we didn’t have time to go back and get it, because we were heading to the movie. He uses his phone to listen to music at night and while he can use Google or Alexa, it’s not the same thing.
I’m not sure if any of these things are keeping them awake, but they’re possibilities.
As for me, I’m struggling to stay awake. I want to make sure they fall asleep before I finally close my eye for the night. I really, really want to go to sleep soon.
I’d prefer not to begin the week with a sleepless night. The boys need to be functioning for school, and I need to be functioning as well.
There always seems to be something disruptive going on, and if it’s not one thing, it’s another.
