I’m not feeling good but for the first time in months, I woke up and didn’t feel like I needed to vomit. I’m not nearly 100% but I’m getting there.
Quite a few people have been reaching out in regards to my journey and seeking advice about starting theirs. Coming off of Paxil or any other medication for that matter, is a medical decision between you and your doctor.
I can only share my personal experiences and what I’ve learned along the way.
The reason I continue to talk about this journey withdrawaling from Paxil is because it’s impacting every aspect of my life. It’s important to share my experience so others who are considering doing the same thing, know what questions to ask their doctor before taking the plunge.
My advice is very simple. Don’t assume that my experience with be yours. Research withdrawaling from Paxil, and come up with a list of questions. Talk to your doctor about your concerns and take as much time as possible to come off, assuming you decide to come off of Paxil. The final piece of advice is this: for the love of God, never, never, never come off of something like Paxil without your doctor being involved in the decision. You need medical supervision to responsibly and safely ween off of a drug like Paxil. Never go it alone.
This has been a nightmare for me and I researched the shit out of this before deciding to do so. I worked with my doctor and took a bit over 90 days to ween off. If I had it to do over, I would have doubled the time I took to withdrawal.
As crazy as it sounds, Paxil has a significant impact on the body and mind. It can be a literal lifesaver for people waring with depression but for those ready to come off, it can be an absolute nightmare. This isn’t something to be taken lightly and people suffering withdrawal symptoms are truly suffering.
Educate yourself. Ask questions. Work with your doctor. Take as long as you need to withdrawal. Never do this without medical supervision.
I won’t link to it but it’s easy to find – article in yesterday’s NY Times about coming off anti-depressants. Seems like you’ll be able to relate to a lot of it…best of luck.
Feel free to link to it Jimmy if you think it will help with the conversation. I’ll check it out though. Thank you… Hope all is well on your end.. ☺
