I wanted to take a minute and send out some positive words to all my readers. I’ve been getting emails lately from people who are really struggling with all or part of the challenges associated with being an Autism parent.

Everyone’s situation is different and while my situation may seem like it’s way worse or more challenging than yours, that doesn’t mean it is. It’s so important to remember that everything is relative and we all have our strengths, as well as weaknesses.

Everyone’s situation is unique and the challenge is very real.

I can’t fix anything for anyone. I can’t even fix things for my own family, and believe me, I’ve tried. The reality is, all I do is manage the challenges put before me. Some days I do better than others but everyday is a challenge.

One of the most important things I can pass along to you, my readers is this. No matter how bad things are (or seem to be), please don’t ever give up.

The goal for every Autism parent shouldn’t be perfection. The truth is, neither you nor you child with Autism is ever going to be perfect. The daily object should be to do the best you can do. Sometimes that will be enough and sometimes it won’t. Win, lose or draw, as long as you don’t give up, you can take comfort in the knowledge that you did all that you could.

We all have good days and bad days. As an Autism parent, those good days and bad days can be more extreme, but they still follow the same basic principles that govern parents in general.

There’s no such thing as perfection when it comes to being a parent in general.

Stay the course. Ask for help. Know your limits and love your kids to infinity and beyond.
