The boys are settled in bed for the night and I get a phone call from AEP (our electric company). I wasn’t sure what they wanted but generally speaking, I don’t like these phone calls. 

Apparently, they’ve decided to do a planned power outage in my area this evening.

I did manage to find out that there had been storm damage. In order to fix the damage they needed to kill power to my area.

They said that the outage would occur within the next hour but didn’t provide a duration.  They did however, apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. 

Not 2 minutes after I hang up the phone, the power is out and the boys immediately take notice. 

I didn’t even have time to prepare them before they killed the power to at least our block.

My neighbors are all outside trying to figure out what happened. Perhaps they didn’t get the memo…..

I’ve never heard of a practice outage before and this really does kinda suck.  More than 2 minutes notice would have been super helpful.
