I’ve decided to follow up my previous post, Autism Parenting: Can You Handle The Truth, with a little more background into what inspired that article.
There were two reason I wanted to share that.
The first being that it truly breaks my heart to hear from so many Autism parents, who have been ridiculed for sharing their story, especially when it’s not be very uplifting. No one should have to experience that kind of judgement
The second reason is because it’s been a pretty difficult day for me and I found myself, reluctant to go into detail because I don’t want to hear about how I’m being too negative or how everyone has problems.. Right now, I’m struggling to survive the ones I have.
I guess I’m hoping that people will just try to have an open mind and an ounce of compassion, when it comes to dealing with Autism parents..
Hearing or reading about their personal experiences may make you feel uncomfortable and I get that. Please keep in mind that you have the ability to read or listen to their story and then go back to your own life. You don’t have to actually live these experiences.
So before you say something that could be hurtful, try and remember that their experiences are valid and so are their feelings… ☺
