So far, Father’s Day has been pretty status quo. I used a gift card to cinemark that I was saving for Lizze and myself, to take the boys to see How to Train Your Dragon 2.
It was fun and realistically, Lizze and I won’t have a chance to use it ourselves.
The reason I decided to do this was because everyone was having a rough morning. Lizze didn’t sleep again and she was exhausted. Elliott and Emmett were at each others throats and Gavin was acting really weird, even for him.
I was up really early this morning because Lizze couldn’t stay awake and Elliott and Emmett both know to come get me, should Mommy have a hard time staying awake.
I thought that shaking things up a little this morning might put everyone in a better place.
It sorta worked.
Everyone loved the movie and for the 2 hours we were watching it, no one was fighting. However, as soon as we got home, it started right back up.
I sent Lizze to take a nap because she wasn’t feeling well and did the same for Gavin because he looked like he was going fall over at any moment.
The E’s and I played Minecraft for a little bit and I now need to start thinking about dinner, cutting the grass and squeezing in a bit of laundry. I suppose Father’s Day is just another day for me. The only difference is that I try a bit harder to remember why I do what I do. 🙂
Remembering why I do what I do and just how lucky I am to have my wife and kids around me, helps to make Father’s Day special.
