What would you do to be free from pain?

In the morning, Lizze will be undergoing a procedure called a headache infusion. This is basically only done in extreme cases where conventional medication can’t control or break a migraine.

This will be Lizze’s 3rd time going through this in the last 2 years.  You may recall that she has been suffering from a migraine that has lasted over 13 months now.

This procedure is done over a period of 3 days.

Lizze will be hooked up to an IV and fed a steady stream of narcotics and migraine medications.  This procedure lasts for 6 hours each day for a total of 18 hours at the end of the 3rd day.

In the past, this has successfully broken her migraine.

The last time she had this done was about a year and a half ago.  It didn’t work because she only did the 2 day version and not the full 3 days.

We’re desperately hoping that having the 3 day infusion  will be what finally breaks this bastard of a migraine.

Unfortunately, right now, the Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program at the Cleveland Clinic is on hold because insurance wants her to have additional evaluations and those seem to be taking longer than we would like to get done.

One of the first things the Cleveland Clinic would have done was this same headache infusion, in order to break her current migraine.  If this procedure is successful that will vastly improve her life and I would do anything within my power to free her from this pain..

Beginning Monday morning, I will basically be on my own until Lizze finishes this up on Wednesday afternoon.

She will leave at 6:30 am and I will pick her up around 1 pm. She will come home and probably sleep for hours and repeat this for the next couple of days.

I will try to keep up with the blog but I’m gonna be stretched pretty thin.  This would be a great time for you to start reading from the archives and experience our journey from the beginning.  There is enough back story to keep you busy reading for weeks.

Please keep Lizze in your thoughts and prayers this week.  I appreciate it and I know she does as well.  🙂

Will definitely say, you have a LOT of backstory. When I start reading new blogs I always make myself read the story from the beginning, and “unfortunately” I found your blog during finals week… You always say people tell you that they wouldn’t believe all the bad things that have happened to you if they didn’t see them, and I’ll say that I wouldn’t believe them if I hadn’t seen them develop over time.  If anyone hasn’t read them, I’d say set aside a LOT of time, but its worth it.

As for Lizze, I can only hope the third time will be the magic charm and it won’t come back.  She suffers an absurd amount.  As much as your family’s back luck boggles my mind, her pain is beyond comprehension. She is seriously to be admired, but she should not have to deal with that. If our world was any kind of just and good she would be able to get the healing she deserves. For now though, I’d settle for just at least temporary healing.  Good luck to all of you.

Just by any chance, has she had an MRI?

lostandtired

@MeredithMull First let me say “awesome, comments are working”. Secondly, yes she has. There is no physical cause for this migraine. They are saying that stress is a huge part. Also she’s got Fibromyalgia and that makes everything more complicated.
Thanks for asking. 🙂

@lostandtired  @MeredithMull Just wondering…my daughter just had brain decompression surgery and the neurosurgeon told us that her cause (Chiari Malformation) is usually not found until you’re an adult and are either in an accident or have severe migraines. Just thought if she hadn’t, it would be a good step. Hope everything goes ok…I have migraines too, so I can completely empathize with her. {Hugs to Lizzie!}
