While at Lizze’s parents last night,  Elliott had shrimp cocktail. The shrimp was free from cross contamination and completely tree nut free.

However, Elliott’s throat became scratchy after eating only one.

This is the second time this has happened.  However, the last time was prior to his recent tree nut allergy diagnosis and so we hadn’t put two and two together.

We gave him benadryl and he felt better.

Elliott will be returning to Akron Children’s Hospital to have more allergy testing done ASAP. until then, we will simply avoid all seafood.

It's not unusual to have a seafood allergy with nut allergies. Our oldest has his throat itch a lot from even raw fresh veggies and fruits. When he has a full 10 mg of Zrytec in him at all times, he does better, but he always avoids peanuts…he is only allergic to the peanut, a classic peanut allergy, not legumes, so that helps broaden his diet a bit. We have found that Zrytec for our 9 yr in a divided dose of 5 mg in the morning, and 5 at night help with his pesky seasonal allergies round the clock, including animal hair and danders. Just some thoughts…and good luck with all the allergy testing and stuff :)…we have an epipen also for the peanut allergy, and Benadryl on hand at all times.
