I wanted to update you all on how Gavin was doing. I want to share how life has been since his latest stint in the psychiatric unit at Akron Children’s Hospital.
I also wanted to update you on autonomic issues he was experiencing last night.
First things first. We opted not to go to the hospital last night. Perhaps that was the wrong decision but Gavin seemed stable and was feeling a bit better. He went to bed without any further symptoms. Hopefully, that will carry over for the rest of the day.
Time will tell.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. They seem to have helped. 🙂
Bow has life been since Gavin’s return? That’s a bit complicated, much like Gavin himself. To his credit, we haven’t had a single meltdown in over a week. That’s a pretty big deal. We are very pleased with that and proud of Gavin for making better choices.
That’s not to say that we aren’t having any problems, because we are. Gavin is simply accepting the consequences of his actions, without the need to throw a fit.
We are having to constantly repeat ourselves to him. When I say constantly, I mean constantly. It’s exhausting and honestly, a bit annoying. He’s testing the boundaries as well as the limits of our resolve but in truth, I’ve nothing of any real significance to report.
It’s only been a week but I’m cautiously optimistic that things are going to improve.
I fully expect to experience meltdowns again. However, we aren’t looking for perfection, simply progress. At this point, we are relishing the baby steps forwards… 🙂
