I wanted to share this and see if any of you experience this as well. Sometimes it’s hard to know the difference between #Autism’s traits and actually personality traits.
Emmett has a certain order that he likes things to be done in. For example, when he tells me goodnight, he gives me a hug first and then a kiss.
It’s always hug then kiss. He’s very particular about this order.
Sometimes I’ll give him a kiss goodnight, only to have him tell me,”no Daddy, hug first and then kiss, okay Daddy. ” Does this seem familiar to any of you out there?

Rob, I just found you on G+. I can't tell you how nice it is to see another Dad in the world talking about his kids. My son, Phin is 3 and a half and we've had the diagnosis for 1.5 years.
We've been working with his EEE school to establish these routines with things like dressing, eating, tooth brushing. The plan is that the flexibility is the second stage of the learning.

My daughter has high functioning autism and is somewhat like that. There are certain parts of her routine that must not be left out and she expects them to be done it a certain order. 🙂
My fears is that while it\’s cute now, it may present him with more difficulties down the road. We try to help him to be as flexible as possible.
Have you tried rewarding him when he is successfully flexible?
Absolutely we have. We try to make fun…..
