It’s been a pretty great day so far. I’ve made more progress on the new site and I’ve secured a couple of amazing guests. You may not know this but I have a reddit sub with about 5,500 families and it’s growing rapidly. You can check it out here. I asked my families for some help with picking podcast topics that would be of value to them and their journey.
I received tons of suggestions and have lined up two that I think will be amazing. One has to do with an app that helps parents of find social activities for their kiddos. This is so important in the autism and special needs community. I’m really excited about this because helping our kids make friends and engage in social activities is so important, but often challenging.
The second has to do with emergency situations. One of our big concerns as parents is that our kids will be misunderstood when interacting with police or ems. Autistic kids may not do well in situations like this and their behavior can easily be mistaken for aggression or threatening towards whomever is responding. Being able to ensure that the responding officers know that your child is autistic prior to arriving, even if you’re not present, can literally be a life saver. This is such a cool thing and I’m so excited to have come across this guest. My oldest, Gavin, is about to move out, and I will be looking into this for him.
Both of these episodes should drop in November, or early December.
I’ve also adjusted the format of the show to roughly 30 minutes instead of 60. This is more digestible for the listener, and honestly, much easier for me to produce. The ideal time is something like 22 minutes and that’s my goal..
Anyway, I have a few other guests I’m working to secure and move forward on. Just wanted to keep ya’ll in the loop. Please remember to let me know your show suggestions and I’ll see what I can do to make it happen. ☺
