We all know that kids with ADHD respond differently to stimulants. That’s why medications like Adderall help to calm them down and help them focus. That’s pretty common knowledge.

Did you know that this applies to caffine as well?

Emmett is very much living the ADHD life style and it can be frustratingly difficult to manage. I have found that in a pinch, or the absence of medication, coffee works amazingly well. I asked his doctor about it cause I wanted to learn more and while they don’t necessarily endorse giving a child coffee, it does work.

It’s not like he drinks alot of coffee but on occasion I’ll let him order some and it really helps to calm him down.

His mom is the poster child for Adult ADHD and she’s always been very open about that. Caffine has the same effect on her as well. In fact, caffine actually helps with her migraines also.

The downside to hitting Starbucks for coffee is the sugar. The caffine itself isn’t a problem.
