You won’t believe what happened today or why the police showed up at our door

After dinner, I took the boys walking. I don’t get as much out of it when they’re with me cause I’m trying to keep them on task but it’s really nice to spend the time with them. Even though it’s a less strenuous workout, it still does my heart good in other ways.

Unfortunately, while we were getting ready to start our second lap, Lizze called because the police had shown up and were requesting access to our surveillance cameras. Apparently, someone was murdered, and they were hoping to catch the suspect on camera as he fled the scene.

We headed straight home, and I called the detective. They were at our house in about two minutes, and we spent a good chunk of time combing through video footage in our living room. Sure enough, the suspect had run right through our yard. I had just arrived home with the boys after picking them up from school on the day in question. You can see us walk into our house and about a minute later, the suspect runs by.

Ruby did really well while the police were here, and so did the boys. Gavin was freaked out, Elliott was lost in his game, but Emmett informed me that he was finally able to check off helping solve a murder from his bucket list. I think I need to have a talk with Emmett about his bucket list. I didn’t even know he knew what that was, let alone have one of his own. We probably need to know the rest of what’s on that list.

After that excitement was over, I ended up going back to spend time with my Grandmother. It turns out my parents had the same idea cause we all arrived at the same time. She was doing much better than she was this morning and we all had a great visit.

I can see how hard this is for my Dad, and I want to be there for him anyway I can. This is his mother. He lost his Dad about 30 years ago. My Mom’s Dad passed away at the beginning of the year, and Lizze’s Grandmother passed away a few months before that. My Grandma is the last we have left, in our entire family. That’s tough to even think about, but there’s nothing we can do.

Anyway, I have to reschedule Gavin’s Cleveland Clinic trip in the morning because the low oil pressure light keeps coming on and while a number of simple things could cause it, I don’t want to take any chances.

That’s about all I can squeeze in right now. I’m exhausted on several levels, and I’m in desperate need of sleep.

A quick request. If your grandparents are still around, please don’t take any of the time you have with them for granted. Call them. Visit them and make sure you tell them you love them..

Grandparents OR parents…don’t take them for granted.
