Lizze and I took Gavin to get something to eat and thought we would spend some time with him while his brothers were gone. He unfortunately, had other plans and disappeared into his room the moment we got home.

We could have made him hang out with us but I’m pretty sure he was going on a mission.

For those new to our story, one of Gavin’s many challenges is Schizophrenia. He believes he goes on missions with his team of superheros and defends the Universe from evil. That’s an oversimplification of an insanely complicated situation but I don’t feel like dredging that up at the moment.

You can visit here for more about our Schizophrenia journey.

Anyway, as long as he’s not endangering himself or others, it’s best we don’t interfere with his hallucinations.

I’m sure he’ll tell us all about it when he’s ready.

It ended up being a pretty quiet evening and I’m okay with that. I’m exhausted from the struggles that we face each day. Things like Autism, ADHD, Schizophrenia and fragile health make everyday life a challenge. Having said that, I’m grateful for how well everything went. There’s always the potential for disaster and we managed to avoid any major disasters..

That’s worth celebrating in my book..

Wow, that is crazy short notice for a party. Why can’t Emmett go straight from his grandparents? I know as a kid a birthday party was something that I never wanted to miss.
