The other day I was doing something, I don’t remember what, but I ended up stumbling across a theme called Graphene. It was a totally random occurrence but it was quite fortuitous.

I’ve been writing since late 2010 and I used to write under the name Lost and Tired. When I moved from wordpress.com to self hosting my own site using wordpress.org, the theme I adopted for almost the entire life of that site was Graphene.

It was my favorite theme of all time and after many, many years of using it, I ended up moving to a different theme because development had stopped and there were no longer any updates.

If you have experience running a website, you know how important it is that you not use out of date themes or plugins for security reasons.

It sucked but I moved on.

Turns out that the developer recently released a major update to my beloved Graphene theme and is actively supporting it once again.

As soon as I saw this, I jumped on it. Much has changed in the last 5 years but it still feels like a good fit. I’m thrilled to be using it again and I know it sounds weird but there’s a tremendous amount of nostalgia involved here for me.

This theme provides me a solid framework to build a more streamlined site.

I’m cleaning up the clutter and trying to keep things as simple and aesthetically pleasing as possible. I’m looking to have a more focused appearance, with less distraction.

I hope you guys like the new experience. I’ve completely rebuilt and updated everything. I feel really good about things and I’d love to get your feedback…

What do you guys think of the changes? Have you run into any problems? Is there anything you’d like to see changed and why?

It’s me

You need to map /blog to the homepage. My bookmark for your site was to the blog so now I end up at a blank page. Aside from that looking good.

I have this same problem. There is no ‘blog’ link in the menu either- it took me a few tries to realize that I had to click on the header to get to the blog. Is that being done to give the appearance of more clicks on the blog for potential advertisers? I totally get it if that’s the case- just curious if that’s why that particular change was made.

So far it’s all right. As long as I can sign in without having to reinvent the wheel, I’m okay. Also the site seems calmer while still containing the same info. So that’s good too!
