Update: This was supposed to publish a couple days ago. Not sure what happened but better late than never. ☺
It’s no secret that I’m always proud of my kids, because I don’t hide it very well, and I make it a point to tell them. It’s important to me they know that no matter what, I love, support and am proud of them.
Today was one of those days where I wanted to make sure That Emmett knew how proud of him I was.
This morning was a nightmare, I’m not going to sugar coat it. Emmett had an hour long, massive meltdown over his crocs feeling funny. It’s true he was late to school and that our day got off on the wrong foot as a result. Having said that, he ended up going to school, making it through the entire day without any problems and came home in a great mood.
On the way home from school, I made it a point to tell him how proud of him I was for working through his rough morning and turning his day around. I told him how sorry I was that his crocs were so bothersome to his feet and that I can only imagine what it’s like.
It’s not about the meltdown or being late for school. It’s about focusing on the positive and encouraging him. I pointed out how he worked through something he didn’t think he would be able to and he should be proud of himself as well. ☺
Take a minute today and make sure your kids know you’re proud of them. Those simple words can go a long way. ☺
