Gavin’s worsening vision issues

Gavin took a bath this afternoon. That’s nothing unusual, in and of itself. What is notable however, is what happened after his bath and I’m not sure how worried I should be.

While he was getting himself dressed, he looked in the mirror, which is high enough that it only reflects his head, neck and chest.

He explained that while looking at his reflection in the mirror, he saw white geometric shapes, separated by black lines. He was unable to answer any questions because he didn’t know how to answer them.

I asked him to draw a picture of what he’s talking about, because without us understanding what he’s experiencing, it’s much harder to help him.

His drawing however, doesn’t help is as much as I was hoping it would. At the same time, maybe it does and this is just something we don’t have enough of an understanding about. Perhaps his neurologist will hear about this and say, hey, this is what he’s describing and this is what we can do about it.

Truthfully, that’s probably a pipe dream but we can hope…

Below is the picture he drew for me. I’m not sure what to make of it but it reminds me of a fucking Rorschach test. lol

Hi, I’ve never commented before, but that looks a lot like the auras that some people get before migraines. Some people might not necessarily get the severe headaches afterwards and so you might not ping onto it being a migraine. I don’t know if your wife experiences auras but they tend to have those geometric and lightning qualities to them.

It’s nice to meet you. πŸ™‚
We’ve thought the same thing because my wife gets them sometimes. We saw his neurologist today and he suspects that the lens in his eye or eyes might be dislocated. I won’t know for sure until November when he has testing for this done.

It’s interesting that you see shapes like that. I didn’t know that was a possibility. Lizze gets the halo’s or light I believe. Thanks for sharing. πŸ™‚

I looked at that picture and also wondered if that was Gavin’s interpretation of what you see when having a migraine. I get strange lights at the edge of my right eye, and also light zig zagging through my vision in my right eye. So those shapes might be Gavin’s interpretation of something similar. And yes, a person can have those auras without the pain.
