In case you're a little tardy to the party, Gavin and I had to make another trip to the Cleveland Clinic today. This was a follow-up with pediatric urology.
Gavin's struggles with bladder issues. They refer to these issues as *frequency and urgency. *
These symptoms are a side effect of his antipsychotic medication, Clozapine. Anyway, we drove about three hours for a fifteen minute appointment but it's totally worth it if this helps him. The long and short of the matter is that Gavin will soon start a new medication that will help to relax his bladder and hopefully, reduce or eliminate the symptoms that have been making him so miserable.
What's the name of the medication you ask? That's a great question but I don't have an answer cause I don't know the name of it. When the script is filled and delivered, I'll learn that. I just don't remember the name and the script was faxed so I didn't see it. There are side effects to this medication and that will require increasing his daily dose of Miralax to resolve.
Unfortunately, this will also have a synergistic effect with one of his current medications meaning the side effects will be worse. Hopefully, the Miralax will keep things moving along.
Gavin did really well on the way up and back. He got frustrated while we were there because he couldn't remember things accurately but it was only a minor meltdown and nothing major.
I'm really proud of Gavin and I'm hoping this new medication will provide him with relief.. ☺
