I’m majorly dragging today and frankly, I think it’s my body shutting down to escape all the fighting and meltdowns. It’s called self-preservation and this is a very human reaction to extreme levels of stress.
Survival mode is all too common in situations like this. One can only absorb so much stress before their body just shutting down.
In times of survival mode, most of life gets put on an indefinite hold while you focus on the most absolutely vital things. Sometimes that’s all I can do.
Anyway, I was able to get the kids outside for a little while.
The neighborhoods been relatively quiet lately and I just remained vigilant. They did really well and ended up having fun.
Getting them outside helps to burn off some of that endless energy, in a healthy and constructive way.
I have a sinking feeling that it’s going to be a very long and stressful summer.
