I said this a million times on Lost and Tired but I want to make this statement here as well because I really believe it’s important for everyone to understand…

I hear from people all over the world, every single day..  Lately, South Africa has been a hot spot.

Connecting with people is something I truly love doing and hope to continue, long into the future.

There is a common thread that is almost always there when I’m contacted and that’s what I want to address.

In nearly every conversation, with every person that private messages me, emails me or contacts me any other number of ways, they almost always make the same statement.

Everyone says something like this: what I’m going through pales in comparison to what you’re going through, so I feel stupid even asking……..

I can’t tell you how much this bothers me and I’ll tell you why.

Everyones experience is relative meaning that regardless of how something appears on the surface, doesn’t mean it’s any worse or more challenging than what you’re experiencing.

Sure, I have 3 boys on the Autism Spectrum and yes, there are major physical and emotional health issues involved as well.

That’s all true….

Having said that, please don’t assume that you situation is any less challenging than mine.  Everyone faces different challenges and everyone has differing abilities in regards to coping with stress.

While you may feel you couldn’t walk two steps in my shoes, I feel the same way about your situation as well.

I’m used to what I’m dealing with and it’s all I know how to do.  If I were to try and take over your life for even a day, I might not be able to do it.  In fact, I could very easily walk away saying something like, OMG… I don’t know how you do it…

Never sell yourself short.  Comparing yourself or your situation to anyone else’s can be dangerous.  Sometimes you’ll feel better about the situation you’re in but sometimes you can feel worse and end up demoralized.

We’re all doing the same job and we all have our challenges.  I like to think that one person’s challenges are just different, not better or worse…

You all continue to be a source of inspiration for me and I thank you for letting me into your lives.
