My divorce is getting closer and closer.. As soon as I get paid this week, I’m taking my 4 hour parenting class and my part of everything will be done.
Where I live, you have to take this parenting class when kids are involved and that’s not a bad thing.
Once that’s done, we submit our agreement to the courts and then we get a court date.
After that happens and we sign the agreement, I’m officially single. If I said I was looking forward to this, I’d be lying to you. At the same time, I have no control over this and so I just want it to be over so I can continue moving forward, untethered.
This will be no cause for celebration because I won’t be happy about this like the other party will be.
In fact, I don’t even know how I will even begin to process this, once it actually happens and that scares me…..

How long does it take to get a divorce in your state? (Ohio right?) I live in Colorado & it only took two months between when I was handed the papers, took the parenting class & signed the final papers in front of a judge after we did the divorce agreement & the custody agreement. All the while packing up my crap & kids and moving to Texas. (I have since moved back to Colorado a year ago).
I know some states take longer & others shorter.
I’ll tell you the parenting class was a waste of my time. It sure didn’t help my EX. He hasn’t gotten any better in his parenting of our kids, only worse.
Parenting classes should be required of anyone who wants to get married in my opinion, whether you want kids or not!!! Shouldn’t happen if you want to get a divorce, by than it’s too late. I also believe it should be court mandated to go to family & couples counseling for at least 6 months before a divorce should be granted, so everyone will learn how bad it will impact everyone even if the parents are civil. Which isn’t the case with my ex.
Marriage & divorce are too easy & quick.
(Now I don’t have these views in marriages of abuse)
