Stuff like this really scares me

Shortly after dinner tonight, there was a knock at the door.  It was a nurse from the home health care company that supplies Gavin’s IVIG infusion supplies.

She was delivering 2 of the needle sets we were missing.

This was a good thing but was also weird since we were shorted by 6. She explained that they would be dropping the rest off on Friday.

I’m really confused by this because unless they are out of stock, which I doubt, this makes absolutely no sense.  Why not just drop them all off today and be done with it?

Anyway, the bottom line is that Gavin received his IVIG infusion this evening and both he and I feel an enormous sense of relief.

I’ll need to follow up and make sure they make this next delivery but assuming it works out, this problem can be put behind us.

I will say that when things like this pop up, it’s really scary because these infusions are potentially a matter of life or death…

You could set a reminder on your phone to do inventory every two-three weeks, just to reassure yourself you have enough (enough plus 1 or 2) until the next shipment arrives.

Or, that could be something Gavin does as part of the infusion – look to see if there are two additional sets of EVERYTHING. I say two sets, because that gives you a week cushion.

Are the supplies mailed or delivered in person? I only ask because the next question becomes ‘can you inventory before they leave?’.

Normally I check before they leave. This time we weren’t home when they were delivered.

It was sort of the exception to the rule.
