As I said earlier, the boys seemed to have a fun time with their Mom and that’s something that makes me feel really good.
Unfortunately, even on the good visits, there’s the transition home.
It really doesn’t seem to matter how the visit itself went, they come home and they struggle for the next day or so.
Emmett had a rough time tonight.
He was tired, overstimulated and anxious. It didn’t much to set him off. I bore the brunt of his difficulties last night but it’s not his fault and I’m very aware of that.
Hopefully, today is going to be a better day for him and everyone else for that matter.
I second Rhonda – I have distinct memories of being a total brat after coming home from my Dad’s, right through into my teens (I needed to decompress by basically spending six hours or more reading and having then having a good night’s sleep) even though I had a great time with my Dad.
It must be so much more intense for your and your kids!

This is pretty typical kid behavior in my experience. I was divorced when my kids were 5 and 8. We shared 50/50 custody with a week on a week off (this gave both parents equal responsibility and fun time). The Monday they returned was always hell. We ran different households and they were forced to adjust to that each week. It never really got easier for them. I wish I had better news, all I can say is brace yourself for “Mondays”. Neither of my kids are on the spectrum so I can only imagine it intensifies for you and for that…. you get my kudos for surviving it.
