You might remember the homework assignment that Gavin did about a week ago. You can see it pictured below for your reference.
If you look at the papers you will probably not need an explanation as to the problem with them.
We met with the principal about this because we are concerned about him moving on to high school next year of this is what his ability level is.
I’ll share the results of that meeting in a different post but here’s what happened today.
Basically, we had forgotten to give Gavin the paper back so he could turn it in to his teacher last week. I received an email from her this morning wanting to verify Gavin’s story that we had the paper and that’s why he couldn’t turn it in.
I was really taken aback by this because it’s only taken all school year to get his teachers to listen to us about Gavin’s compulsive lying.
Rather than let him just skate by saying that we had his homework, she actually took the time to verify his story. That’s such an awesome thing. I wish it hadn’t taken till the last week of school but better late than never I suppose.
I want to thank Gavin’s teachers for asking us to verify his story before believing him. That’s a huge step in the right direction.
……..as it turns out, he was actually telling the truth about this but it’s nice to be taken seriously.
