Over the last decade of special needs parenting, I’ve learned so much.  One of the things that I’ve consistently seen is just how much my kids with Autism, enjoy art.

If you think about it, art is an amazing way for someone to express themselves.

My kids aren’t always really good at expressing their feelings  verbally.  They can however, draw pictures or create some kind of craft, that tends to provide some insight into their current demeanor.

I’ve also seen just how soothing art can be as well.

My kids are inherently creative and absolutely love making things from nothing more than construction paper, safety scissors, crayons and a glue stick.

Do you kids enjoy art or are they pretty creative?

I love this! Art has been a great way to reach and connect in our house. I recently started a weekly blog segment featuring different arts and crafts that I have “connected” to some therapeutic value. http://www.radathome.blogspot.com/2013/11/art-therapy-thursdays-animal-sculpture.html
