Today at 2pm, Lizze and I will be at Summit Academy.  The reason we will be there so early today is because my littlest minion, Mr. Emmett John, has his first IEP meeting.

This will be our second meeting with the school for Emmett, the first being about testing.

I’m excited to have this meeting because I want to know where he is. I’m also anxious to find out what they believe he needs in the way of services.

Our experience with IEP’s and Summit Academy Schools have been really positive but any IEP meeting has the potential to be unpleasant.  Having said that, no matter how much we may like the school or the staff, we have to be sure not to allow our personal feelings to influence how we handle these types of meetings.

I don’t foresee any problems today and I look forward to setting up any services that Emmett needs to assist in his education.

Remember, do not ask anyone when they are due unless they have just shown you their ultrasound or they bring a pee stick for the show & tell portion of the IEP meeting. :-). Hope all goes smoothly!

I just re-did both of my sons’ IEP’s on the 7th. Those meetings are never fun.
