Off to school and I haven’t cried yet

The moment has finally arrived and I haven’t cried yet.

Let me start at the beginning.

Today was the first day of school for the Gorski clan.  This wasn’t just the typical return of the school year either. This morning marked the beginning of a new journey for all of us.

For the very first time ever, all three of our boys will be in school, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

This is a really big change for all of us but one that ushers in a new era of possibility for both Lizze and myself. For the first time in 10 years, we finally have a break.

Today has gone as smoothly as I could have hoped for.

Elliott was up and dressed by 6am.  He did great and didn’t give us a tough time at all. Emmett and Gavin did just as well.

Everyone got ready, out the door and into the school without a single hiccup.  Lizze and I are both, very proud of them.  We are also a bit emotional right now as well.  Our babies are growing up.

Hopefully, everything goes well for them today and we can begin the school year on a good foot.

Rob,
I want to share with you and Lizze the wise words that a dear friend offered me when my youngest started kindergarten and I was all ready to 1. write my novel, 2. get a grand new job and earn tons of money, 3. make art, 4. RELAX, etc. She said, “You think when the day finally comes you will be able to DO EVERYTHING, but it will take you at least a year just to RECOVER!” that was not 100% true in some ways – I did find ways to work more and create more, to an extent, but in the bigger picture it was true that I needed soooo much time to feel human again. So give yourselves some space to know that it will take some time, be easy on yourselves and don’t expect too much right away. Love
