Lizze and Emmett took Bella to the vets this morning. She's scheduled for surgery a few minutes from now (7:30am).
Emmett is heavily involved in Bella's care as she is his dog and they are best friends.
The idea of leaving the vets office, without Bella was very difficult for him. Our vet is really great and totally understanding. He spent a great deal of time, explaining to Emmett that she was going to be just fine. The reason she is staying overnight is because he just wants to make sure that Bella is all better before she comes home.
It's going to be a very long day. Emmett is already having a rough time with his current fever flares and now.......
I stand by the decision to let him be a part of the process because at least he knows where she is and when she is coming home. He knows that the doctor is going to take extra special care of her and that they will be reunited in the morning.
If Emmett would have stayed home, he would have seen us leave with Bella and come home without her. That would not have gone over well.
