I’ve been thinking that it would be really beneficial to add localized forums to the #Autism Help Forums.
Basically, I want to add a section for people that are in the same state (for the US) and for localized areas in other countries as well.
The reason for this is that people could carry on discussions that pertain to their particular location. For right now I don’t want to get anymore local than the state level, just as an example.
Another big reason for me wanting to do this is because quite often services will vary by location. Typically, in the US, every state has its own programs and services. By having the ability to have a more localized forum, information can be catered to the people in that area.
Make sense? Awesome.
Because adding new forums is tedious and I’m lacking in time and energy, I figured I would add them based on requests.
So here’s what I need from you. Basically, if you are looking for the ability to connect with other parents in your area or would like to have more localized discussions about services etc, please leave you location in the comments below.
If you’re in the US, please leave the state. Of your in another country, I’ll need a bit of help with the best way to divide things up. Does that make sense?
For example, of your in the UK, what would be the most beneficial way to split things into smaller locations? Perhaps one forum for UK specific discussions?
I need feedback, feedback and more feedback. 🙂
I will be implementing these changes soon. Well, as soon as I figure out some of the logistics.
Also, I would love your feedback and suggestions about the Autism Help Forums in general. I’m really trying to make this a place that people can come to and find other that can relate and offer information, experience and support.
Thank you in advance for helping me to help you. 🙂

If you wanted to start with less divisions for the UK, you could perhaps start off with just 'The UK' until you have a better idea of numbers. In the UK though, services vary greatly according to whether you are in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, so maybe a split that way?
Another way we split areas here is in regions and/or counties. Regions are groups of counties, roughly split as Midlands, North East, South East, South West, etc..
The services available still vary within each region, but it would probably still be easier to filter the info people need.
Sorry if this is a bit long winded, but I hope it is of some use to you.
Hi, Helen Krane here, I live in Montreal, Qc, Canada, a local group for anybody from Montreal would be great!
