Emmett John has hit another fever cycle,  as the mouth sores have begun to appear in his tongue. He’s already miserable and you can tell by the way he’s talking.

My guess is that he’s got some appearing in his throat as well because he’s talking like his throat hurts.

So much for this week helping us to recover. The next 10 days are going to be hell for Emmett and all those around him. When he hits these cycles,  he’s very difficult to console.  He doesn’t want to eat because his mouth hurts,  but at the same time he’s hungry.

It really is heartbreaking to watch and frustrating to live through because there isn’t much that we can do for him.

Here’s to hoping this is a very quick cycle,  not that it ever has been.

Best of luck. Everything is temporary. That's one of my mantras that helps.

April

Have you asked his doctor about a medication for the pain. They make a liquid that can be rubbed or swished around in his mouth the numb the sores. You might also try an over the counter option called Kanka. It has a soft brush tip so u can apply it to the sore areas. They suggestions are just a thought.

Thanks April. It think your talking about magic mouthwash. He won\’t do that, we\’ve tried. We rotate between Advil and Tylenol. That\’s about the only thing we can do. He also has special ice cream that he can eat when he\’s in a flare up like this.

Thank you for the suggestions. I really appreciate it 🙂

Aww, I'm so sorry. Here's hoping it passes quickly.

Thanks Wendy 🙂

Poor guy, will keep him in prayer. Is this condition something that's exacerbated by stress, or something that is progressive? It sure seems like he's having these more often than he used to 🙁

Thanks Tam,

These cycles actually hit about every 3 weeks or so. Sometimes it happens more or less frequently. As far as stress goes, that\’s actually a really good question but I don\’t have the answer.

The last few cycles have actually been less severe but he\’s still miserable. I don\’t know how bad this one will be but hopefully not very.

Most kids are supposed to outgrow this disorder, at least that\’s what I\’m told. However, here I. The Lost and Tired family, we never do anything half way. It would also probably help if they could actually figure out what it actually is. We are supposed to return to infectious disease but the Gavin stuff has been a distraction and had to take priority.

It sucks but Emmett\’s health problems aren\’t life threatening and we\’ll, Gavin\’s are.

Thanks Tam. I appreciate the support 🙂
