It’s been a minute since I last updated you on how Elliott was doing with his anxiety. Well, I can sum it up for you in two words, not good.

I don‘t think the Risperdal is working.  We likely need to adjust the dose.

His anxiety is through the roof.  He cries over everything anymore. It’s not like he’s being defiant,  it’s more panic or simply his body purging. I don‘t think he has any control over this, at least most of the time.  That said,  he’s driving me crazy.

He’s been waking up way to early and unable to go back to sleep.

I know Emmett’s aggressiveness isn’t helping matters either. The fact that Elliott is his main target just makes things worse for him.

He will be spending the next 3 days with Lizze’s parents while Gavin has his 48 hour VEEG. Hopefully, that will give him some time to just chill out and relax. Maybe that will be the break he needs.

**Thanks for reading**

If anxiety is the issue maybe an antidepressant is what is called for. I don't know much about risperdal as we haven't tried it for my daughter at this point because she is so young. However, I know that, personally, antidepressants have been very helpful for me in regards to anxiety. I have also read that this can be a successful way to treat the anxiety autistic children experience. Temple Grandin, for one, expresses how much they have helped her overcome her severe anxiety.

Wasn't it Zoloft that they tried already? That's an antidepressant, and it sent him through the roof. Not to say that all antidepressants will do it, but they have tried one.

Oh okay, I didn't know that 🙁 Then I can't give any advice unfortunately!

Our son took risperdal and became constantly drowsy, which made him very irritable. In addition, he gained a lot of weight. This drug was not worth the additional suffering.
